Judy's Fabulous Quilts

Judy has been busy putting together to most wonderful collection of quilts for Darling Harbour.
She designed this wonderful Kaleidoscope quilt using the beautiful Yuwa fabrics.

There is also a fat quarter quilt using the fabrics from The Polar Brigade and a wonderful quilt fussing cutting the border fabric to make a Kaleidoscope quilt.

Judy will be demonstrating the Kaleidoscope ruler at the Darling Harbour Show so she has had a lot of fun playing with the ruler when it making these quilts.

Busy preparing for Darling Harbour

We have all been busy getting ready for the Darling Harbour Show. Judy has finished three quilts that we will be launch at the show and she brought another quilt top today. This one is a one fabric quilt featuring the Jinny Beyer border fabric.

Ann has been busy cutting fat quarters and bundling them up.

I was able to finish the quilt top using the Martha's Vineyard watercolour fat quarters and border. I've been wanting to design a fat quarter quilt for a while.

Patterns, paper pieces and more

Friday saw a lovely parcel of goodies arrive from Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busyfingers. In it were her latest patterns, a wonderful collection of paper piecing projects and embroidery. There was also the new flower paper pieces. These are designed to go with the hexagons and pentagons to make pretty paper pieced flowers (above). A re-order of cotton supreme fabrics also came in. Blues and greens have been running out the door recently. I love the cotton supreme fabrics. They are the same excellent quality of fabric as patchwork prints and behave that way (unlike some homespuns with can run or shrink and ruin projects). We have 50 colours available and are always thinking about what colours to add next.

The latest Sakura fabrics

We recently had a shipment of the Sakrua range from Max New arrive. They were so immensely popular that I had to get more. These are beautiful pastel prints and I would love to make a lanterns of light quilt with them (if I ever get the time - see below). I spent yesterday loading them up on the site and Ann is now busy cutting them into packs getting ready for the Sydney Show.
Our fat quarter packs are also popular at the Show so I have had great fun designing new packs. Keep an eye out for a new yellow pack and a pretty floral pack. I'll post the photos as soon as we have them together.

A restock of the Australian Patchwork Animals arrived. I love this book. It is full of really stylish yet fun ideas. There are plenty of thinks you could make for overseas visitors (or a great gift for an overseas patchworker).

We have the full range of Bulurru fabrics including two that have just been released: Bush Fruit Dreaming and Heart of My People .

I have just got off the phone with Sally from the Rivendale Collection. We are getting in some lovely stitcheries and patchwork patterns of hers. Keep an eye out for them when they arrive.

Salina Yoon Kids! and Thimbleberries

So much has been happening and I can't always get it into the newsletter, so I decided to start this blog. This way you can see:

  • what has come in;
  • who is playing with what;
  • all the UFOs we have;
  • and so much more ...

The last week has bee a huge one for really cute kids fabric. The entire Salina Yoon Kids! range is in store. This is the cutest kids range I have seen in a while. It features 5 panels, one farm scene, two jungle scenes and a boy and girl bath panel. The panels are quite large and would be great as quilt centres or floor mats. The co-ordinates are also really fun with funky farm and jungle animals as well as bubbles and duckies for the bath.

Chris and I spent Sunday afternoon loading up the Cover Story fabrics. These Thimbleberries fabrics have a wonderful vintage feel. We have two panels in: Kite Flying and Setting Sail plus the co-ordinates for setting sail. I love Kite Flying and hope to make a bed quilt for Thomas based on it. I just have to find time before Tiberius arrives (Tiberius is the in utero name for baby no 2, after Captain James T Kirk. Don't worry there are plenty of others for when he makes his entrance into the world).
