The latest delicious Moda fabrics

We have had some lovely fabrics arrive in the last few weeks. Nostalgia is the latest beautiful range from April Cornell for Moda. We have 12 beauitful bolts of fabric plus layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls.
The Morris Workshop by Barbara Brackman came in last week. These fabrics are based on designs by English artist William Morris and his colleagues. Symbolising the Arts and Crafts Movement, William Morris created art reacting against the Industrial Revolution. Always rooted in natural themes, Morris’ fabrics and wallpapers featured intertwining vines, never ending floral stems, and impossibly dense hedges.

We have even more pre-cuts on from Moda including Love U and Old Primrose Inn.

I have been busy with the boys these holidays. Thomas has been keen to help me sew...
while Cameron had his first birthday last week. While the piano from Nana and Papu was a big hit...

...it was Aunty Kristy's portable wardrobe that was the big hit.

Alliance and NETs

This week we have got two shipments of yummy yummy pre-cut from Moda. Early in the week it was ranges including Au-then-tic (above) which Judy has made the fabulous Real Man Quilt. Au-then-tic is a fresh range of creams, tans, lime and black. This range would be great for modern home decor projects.

We also got Mill House Inn the latest range from Figtree quilts. This ever so pretty range was inspired by a recent family trip to the Cotsolds. A rich pallette in these fabrics pack with colour names like currant, rose red, clotted cream, pond, fresh apricots, butterscotch pudding and meadow grass.

A charming mix of simple, vintage and modern prints can be found in the Simple Abundance range by Bonnie & Camille. Simple Abundance is sure to inspire creative living.

Full of florals, stripes, paisleys and tonals, in rich aquas, lush reds, chocolate brown and the sweetest pink, Simple Abundance leads the way to a simple way of living life, full of the things that one loves most.

Comfortably fashionable in the red, blue, cream, and khaki that has come to define the fabrics from Minick and Simpson, their latest range is a celebration of Wiscasset, known as Maine's prettiest town. The commercial seaport of Wiscasset has seen a treasure trove of antiquities from across the globe. These reproductions revolve around the stunning, etched Jacobean floral and include madder paisleys, several calicos, a floral stripe, polka dots, and mini rose buds.

The fabrics I have been waiting for through is the latest release from the Collections for a Cause Range - Alliance (above). Proceeds from these collections are donated to charity. I was thrilled to be involved in suggesting the charity this collection supports - NETs.
The NETS mobile humidicrib. This trolley has everything they need to provide mobile intensive care for babies

NETS provides a mobile emergency service for babies and children across NSW and the ACT who need intensive care. Thomas (my oldest) was transported by a NETs team from the San hospital to Royal North Shore the evening he was born as his lungs weren't properly developed when he was born.
Thomas at the San once he had been stablised by the NETs Team

They were a fantastic team and I know of many other families who have NETs to thank for getting their child to the services they need.

What a busy time it has been since Darling Harbour. We have barely had time to catch our breath. We had a fabulous time there and it was wonderful to meet so many of you face to face. By far the biggest hit at the show was the Pie and Tart quilt. I have been busy sourcing the background fabric for it and Mum is busy cutting away. The starter pack (Playing with Paper Pack 12) and the pre-cut papers kit were also very popular.

The Bluebird of Hope quilt was also very popular and Erica has been busy cutting our blocks and our finishing kits. We have started to get these out we are still waiting for a full fabric shipment from the distributors but we are working hard to minimise the delays in getting these blocks out.

The other beautiful quilts Sue had designed which we are now preparing as block sof the month are It Takes Two (above) and Under The Southern Stars.

Darling Harbour

What fun we have had this week at Darling Harbour. It has been three days of non-stop fun. Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and said hello. It has been lovely to put faces to all the names. Fabric designer Robyn Pandolf also stopped by.
She has designed two lovely ranges we have in stock - the new Somerset cottage and the ever so pretty Sumputous Living.

Darling Harbour was also the launch of Quiltaid 2009. This project supports the Addis Ababa Fistula hospital specifically for women with childbirth injuries. 12 australian designers have designed beautiful blocks on the theme Bluebird of Hope. Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busyfingers has designer our block a cute little basket with a bird in it.
Sue has also designed a finishing kit for the 12 blocks. Isn't it beautiful! You can find more about the project here.

It has been drawing a lot of comments at the show. If you are coming in drop by stand E2 and see it

The trade show and an exciting win

After the trunk show on Tuesday, Sue Jim and I headed off to the trade show (the quilt and Craft Expo) to find out what was new. There was a wonderful talk by Robyn Pandolf who is now designing for RJR fabrics, She spoke about the inspiration behind her designs and showcased her latest quilts and ranges. They are so beautifully soft. The fabrics also have a lovely silk finish to them which make then beautiful to touch. I enjoyed the change to talk more with her over lunch.

The day were pretty much spent visiting the various fabrics wholesalers to see what was coming in. There are some wonderful new designs. French General is a new designer for and the first range has everyone talking.

Maisy will be making an appearance on fabric and we will be getting the entire range. There was so much more. It is always an exhusting day. There aresome fun pattern on the way as well.

In the evening we had chance to relax and socialise over dinner and awards night. We were so excited to win the Business of the Year Award.

To celebrate we put together and lovely fabric pack that dissappeared out the door so fast we had to make another one!

Trunk Show

We had a wonderful evening yesterday at our Trunk Show. It was a fun filled night with some delicious food and of course wonderful quilts. Maree showed some beautiful whole cloth quilts she had sewn which were much admired.

Sue showcased her latest quilts. These included It takes two (top) and our finishing kit for Quiltaid - Bluebird of Hope (above). There were many other wonderful quilts for everyone to admire including cooking with Sherry (which inspiredPlaying with Paper Pack 5).
