More Yummy Pre-cuts & a Giveaway

Yes another delicious box of goodies arrived today. Firstly it has four more Rural Jardin layer cakes and 4 more Jelly Rolls. Wow this stuff sold out so fast. If you still want one then don't delay! There was also some more yardage as so much has disappeared already.

Also in it were more Hunky Dory Layer Cakes and Jelly Rolls - another collection that disappeared before the yardage release.
Finally we have also got in the latest reproduction range Charity. Reproductions are so lovely.

Getting into the quilting

Well the quilt tops have been piling up here. We've cleaned off the quilting machine and started to get them done. Judy had first go today finishing of this great design that she whipped up DURING the CraftExpo last month.

It is made from a Simple Abundance layer cake. Anyway it's a bit of a tease now because it is on the machine but it is really fun and I'll post again when it is bound.

A yummy moda box of goodies

We had a lovely box of goodies from Moda fabrics this week. These included all the Chernish nature pre-cuts we could scrounge up. This means we are able to offer Judys beautiful Cherish Nature quilt again (although be quick as we have sold 3/4 of them already).

Taking English Paper Piecing to the Next Dimension

Chris and I am having a lovely weekend enjoying our English paper piecing. Chris has started on her first English paper piecing project - Playing with paper pack 6.


I have been working on one of Sue's latest patterns - Sewing Assistants. This is a really cute English paper piecing pattern that pops into this cute shape as you work - English paper piecing in 3D. It comes together so quickly with the Sewline glue pen!

Sewing Assistant has really a really cute star on one size and a nice rounded top on the other side.

I'm addicted now - I've stared on A Star is Born.

Catching up with Sue

Sue Daley from Patchwork with Busyfingers was down on Monday and Tuesday to film a DVD for Quilters Companion. We aught up for dinner on Monday night at a little Italian Restaurant in Crows Nest.
We had a lovely time planning for Darling Harbour. It is going to be so exciting. I have packed a bag of her latest patterns to take away to make samples for the show.

She was telling me about her latest find - sewline fabric glue. She uses it instead of tacking the fabric to the papers. We have just got them in and I have packed two away for the weekend (one for Me and one for Chris). But in the meantime here is a little tutorial from Sue (shameless taken with her permission from her blog).

Using the perspex template and a rotary cutter cut out your fabric.

Place the pre-cut paper on top of the wrong side of the fabric.

Run the glue pen along the edge of the card. The glue comes out blue and dries clear and is water soluable.

Fold the fabric over the edge of the card and press with your finger.

Repeat for the remaining sides.

If you have points make sure that you have nice crisp points and leave the tails hanging out. (Very important)

Brilliant for curved edges as you can pull them in tight eliminating points on the curved edge.

I know what the next question is before you even ask it.

How do I get the paper out now?

Don't take any papers out until you have sewn your shapes together.

Just peel the fabric edge off the card and it will just slip out.
